7. Medical Management and Leadership Skills
This course is an introduction to the concepts physician managerial and leadership skills that
are mandatory competency in the recent medical curricula. By participating in classes and
activities, students will have the opportunity to learn about and develop in various areas of
lifestyle management that contribute to becoming a successful physician, including; self-
knowledge, career development, team management, financial management, and leadership.
8. Educational skills
This course will give an overall orientation about the whole program from entry to graduation.
All study plan will be explored. The goal of this course is to expose all students to basic
principles of teaching and learning at different points in their medical curriculum. Explanation
of different terminology that will be the essence of the curriculum as competency, outcome,
theme, sub-internship, different modalities of teaching and learning as well as different tools
of assessment. Upon completion, students will be aware of the different core domains with
their competencies and sub-competencies.
9. Principles of Biochemistry
The overall goal of this course is to study the biomolecular structure of cellular components,
learn about their role in molecular biology and genetics, and observe their functions inside the
whole cell or within the cellular domain. As more molecules and cellular components are
introduced, the relationship between molecular structure and its influence on a compound’s
ability to interact with other biomolecules is examined. Weekly topics include interdisciplinary
discussions of diseases as phenylketonuria, glycogen storage disease, hyper cholesterolemia,
and urea cycle disorders will be explored at a basic level.
10. Genetics and Molecular Biology
The overall goal of this course is to provide the student with a comprehensive understanding
of the fundamentals of molecular biology that serve as one of the foundations of modern
medicine. Knowledge of basic molecular biology as it relates to cell, tissue and organ structure,
function, and pathology is a prerequisite for remaining courses in the curriculum. The course
represent integration between faculties from different disciplines including biochemistry,
molecular biology, genetics, and pharmacology to present a coherent introduction to the
cellular molecular processes.
11. Principles of Histology
The overall goal of this course is to provide the student with a comprehensive understanding
of the fundamentals of tissue structure. Tissue & Organ Biology (Histology) is the study of
form and function of cells, tissues, and organs at the microscopic level. The unit begins with
coverage of the four phenotypes of adult tissues: epithelium, connective tissue, muscle, and
nervous tissue. The unit concludes with coverage of all of the body systems, which are
composed of these primary tissues.
