Competency 3: Recognize the supporting sciences and concepts and integrate them in medical
            practice.


                    Objective 9:  Discuss the different medical profession ethical principles, appropriate and
            inappropriate touching, professional distance & communication styles in different contexts particularly with
            regard to end of life issues, genetics, new molecular technology.

                    Objective 10:  Explain the concepts and professional approaches to the different safety issues;
            physician safety, patient safety, community safety, life style and career management as well as finding the
            best solution and most relevant recommendations.
                    Objective 11: List all the organizational steps used by health care systems including dealing with
            diversity, impact of socio-ethno-cultural issues, financing, joint care, transfer strategy, consultancy roles and
            advocacy principles.

                      2. Domain 2 (Area 2) Patient Care

            Description: Graduates must be able to provide family centered patient care that is developmentally
            appropriate, compassionate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of
            health.


                      Key Competencies


            Competency 1: Conduct medical interview for accurate history taking and proper clinical examination.

                    Objective 1: Take a complete and accurate medical history from their patients and/or their relatives
            with ability to identify bio psychosocial and cultural contexts and needs of the patient.

                    Objective 2: Perform an appropriate comprehensive general physical examination.

                    Objective 3: Perform an accurate, complete and organ-specific, physical, neurological and mental
            status examination in adults, infants and children.

            Competency 2: Request and / or perform diagnostic procedures and make prioritized differential
            diagnosis.

                    Objective 4: Request and/or perform clinically relevant diagnostic procedures; laboratory, imaging
            and histopathological studies for screening, monitoring or diagnosis of presumptive disease; considering the
            patient values after counselling and briefing.
                    Objective 5: Develop a prioritized differential diagnosis plan for each patient seen in different clinical
            situations, considering rules of evidence based practice.

            Competency 3: Counsel and educate patients and their families.

                    Objective 6: Counsel patients and their families to make informed shared decisions about diagnostic
            and therapeutic interventions based on patient information, prognosis and preferences, up-to-date scientific
            evidence, and clinical judgment.
                    Objective 7: Participate in alleviating patient suffering within ethical and humanitarian codes,
            informed consent and patient education.


            Competency 4: Develop and carry out effective and safe patient management plans.


                    Objective 8: Develop an appropriate treatment plan for each patient seen besides giving an outline
            of the management for patients with serious conditions requiring critical care including ameliorating the
            suffering, performing first aid and Basic Life Support when appropriate.
