P. 6
Preface to the first edition
The student code of conduct is a part of the
introductory package that will be available for all the new
students enrolled in the CBMBP. It summarize the main
issues needed from each medical student in his journey to be
a future physician. At our College, the new curriculum
adopts the American Competency framework ACGME. One
of the major competencies is professionalism.
All the International Medical Academic institutes have their own code of conduct.
Whatever the school they are belonging to, all apply common basic rules for their
students. In the Western countries with their pattern of cultural attitudes, however all
have issued a specific code of conduct to describe the minimal requirements in ethical
and professional behavior.
Prof. Dr. Magdy Hasan Balaha, the program academic coordinator, first drafted
this code of ethics and conduct. The code was prepared taking in consideration all the
medical professional values and all the international trends gained from previous
experience in similar curricula.
Three of our Faculty members; Dr. Sherif Al Shwaikh, Dr. Ahmed Hagras and Dr.
Ayman Fouad, worked on the draft and made a great effort in modifying and reforming
and editing the first draft. Then all the work was compiled to formulate a second draft.
Prof. Dr. Amal Mahfouz and Prof. Dr. Ghada Atef further reviewed the second draft. Lot
of issues were clarified and remodelled into the third draft. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shakal, the
Vice Dean for Education reviewed and approved this last version.
So, please make yourself fully familiar with the codes of conduct in this document.
Dr. Magdy Hasan Balaha
