5. Article 5: Conflicts of Interest and Integrity
Medical students are expected to be honest, fair and impartial when performing any duty.
This means that:
a. You should not show bias to an individual colleague, staff or patient.
b. You are not allowed to lend money to, or borrow money, or otherwise enter into
financial relationships with staff or employee.
c. You must inform the College administration if you have any of the following:
d. Medical profession situations
e. Personal commitment to any activity that may conflict, with the performance of
your duties and the goals of the College.
f. Personal commitment that may be seen by others to conflict with the performance
of your duties and the goals of the College. Social situations such as:
– having a close family member, at the College ;
– When a member of your family enters into a professional, cooperative or
financial relationship with the College.
Financial interest or commitment includes:
– Company directorships;
6. Article 6: Student Identification Badge
a. Identification (ID) badges are a regulatory requirement and an important tool to
help ensure a safe environment for workforce members, non-staff members,
patients, and other visitors.
b. The ID badge must be carried so that it is easily readable by patients and hospital
personnel. The badge should not be clipped to a waistband or belt, put inside a
pocket or otherwise obscured by clothing or other badges.
c. Students must wear their name badge at all times when they participate in clinical
activities, including outpatient and School of Medicine sponsored community
service learning activities.
