III. Body hair and shoes:
a. Hair should be kept tidy and long hair should be kept off the collar.
b. The beard if present must be regular without covering the neck and shouldn’t
interfere with the infection control or to touch patient during examination.
c. Extreme hairstyles including excessively vivid colours, strange haircut. Or strange
trimming of moustache or beard are forbidden.
d. Hats, caps, and sunglasses should not be worn in the classroom or in the clinical
setting.
e. Male headscarves are forbidden within the College unless there is an official
notification for the cold weather.
f. Female headscarves worn for ethnic, religious and cultural reasons should be no
longer than shoulder length, and if longer than shoulder, should be fixed to the
trunk. plain dark color, and should not ‘hang’ in such a way as to make contact
with patients and provide a potential for cross infection/contamination during
direct patient care.
g. Closed toe and heel shoes will be worn to afford protection for the student and
soft soled shoes will be worn by students in ward areas to reduce noise..
h. Facial expression is totally needed for good patient communication, and for better
evaluation, so facial expression and good contact is a cornerstone in student
evaluation, marking and grading system. It is also mandatory step to allow for fair
and justice in the exams.
