h. An identity badge should be clearly visible to members of the public, patients,
other students and staff. Only metal lanyards or a clip may be used to display ID
badge in a clinical environment.
i. The pocket of the white coat and the scrub suit will have certain color and/or logo
to denote the student level
j. Additional protective clothing e.g. aprons and gloves will be provided if students
are involved in direct contact with patients.
II. Accessories and cleanliness :
a. Daily hygiene must include clean teeth, hair, clothes, and body, including use of
deodorant. Clothing should be clean, pressed, and in good condition.
b. Any accessories should be kept to a minimum and not alter outward appearance
significantly. As general not more than three accessory are allowed.
c. If worn, jewellery must be discreet and body-piercing other than the ear lobule is
forbidden. Rings, if worn must be limited to a wedding band. If a tie/necklace is
worn it must be tucked in to avoid it coming into contact with a patient during
direct patient care. Wrist watches may not permitted to be worn in some clinical
areas.
d. If worn, make up will be discreet with nails kept well-manicured with no nail
extensions, false nails or nail varnish [including clear nail varnish].
e. Fragranced products, including perfume and aftershave will be kept to be
minimum [as a known trigger of asthma in some patients and staff and to reduce
discomfort for patients].
f. Tattoos in obligatory visible areas is forbidden. Cover tattoos [if present] as it is
deemed inappropriate or offensive.
